A word from Golf Director, Stephen Chick
Happy New Year to one and all and I am sure 2021 has to be a better year for most with some visible light at the end of the tunnel. Despite difficult circumstances and having to postpone the club championship by 1 week I am confident we had a very successful event which respected the current guidelines we are enforced to live with but provided a reasonable amount of enjoyment with a fun weekend had by all. Again, the course was set up to be traditionally challenging to test all players skills and seek to find the best players in the club across the various divisions. This year with a record field of players with 128 participants joining we got to see a lot of good Golf but unfortunately still no hole in one on either day to claim the available Ducati. Starting with the Ladies divisions we had 2 new winners of each division with the B claimed by Mrs. Venter after a very strong round on Saturday and then Division A gross being a very close battle between 9 time champion Ma Su Su and newcomer Mrs.Naidoo who overturned a 5 shot deficit from day 1 to be the new champion. In the mans division there was a fantastic gross score by U Ah Chan who actually went on to eventually win as he blew the field and course away in round 1 by breaking par with -1, which on the difficult course set up is nothing short of impressive. This enabled him to cruise to a stress free 79 on day 2 for a comfortable 6th victory. Day 2 score of the day belonged to 2019 and 4 time champion U Win Sein with a +2 which again on an even more difficult set up for day 2 was very impressive. As you will see below the top 32 gross scores will battle it out again for the 2021 Matchplay championship. So having concluded the best man and lady players in the club for 2020 we will be hosting the annual Caddie Tournament on Monday 11th January to find the best playing caddie amongst other prizes and all players are welcome to come and show your support for your Caddie to cheer them on.
The Golf shop shall be ready for us to move in to toward the end of January which is exciting and the Golf Academy should complete in February. However, PHGC & Phil Moore have decided to part ways for the best interests of both parties and a replacement for this position shall be appointed ASAP. In the meantime if you purchased a package of lessons and have lessons remaining, I will be doing my best to complete these as efficiently as I can. Finally, as the club continues with investments to the infrastructure of the club thus enhancing to international standards the caddie fees shall be restructured to reflect the same price for all players with equality across all players, furthermore significant training plans are being executed during 2021 for the Caddies conducted by ‘Step In Step Up’ and myself to continue improving their knowledge and resulting customer service.

မင်္ဂလာနှစ်သစ်ပါလို့ပထမဦးစွာနှုတ်ခွန်းဆက်သလိုက်ပါတယ်။ ကပ်ရောဂါနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး နိုင်ငံအသီးသီးက ကာကွယ်ဆေးတွေ့ရှိမှုတွေကြောင့် ၂၀၂၁ ခုနှစ်ရဲ့ နှစ်သစ်က ကံကောင်းမှုတွေယူဆောင်လာမယ်လို့မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ ခက်ခဲတဲ့အခြေအနေတွေကြားထဲမှာ Club Championship ကို တစ်ပတ်တာနောက်ဆုတ်လိုက်ရပေမယ့် ချမှတ်ထားတဲ့ ကျန်းမာရေးစည်းမျဥ်းစည်းကမ်းတွေနဲ့အညီ လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်ခဲ့တဲ့ အောင်မြင်တဲ့ပွဲတစ်ပွဲဖြစ်ခဲ့တယ်လို့ ကျွန်တော်ယုံကြည်ပါတယ်။ ပါဝင်ကြတဲ့သူတွေအားလုံးလည်း ပျော်ရွှင်ရတဲ့ အချိန်ကာလလေးတစ်ခုရရှိခဲ့မယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ ဂေါက်ကွင်းကိုလည်း ကစားသမားများရဲ့ အရည်အသွေးကိုစိန်ခေါ်မှုတစ်ရပ်ဖြစ်စေရန်နှင့် လာရောက်ကစားကြသောဂေါက်ကစားသူများထဲမှအကောင်းဆုံးကစားသမားများကိုထပ်မံရှာဖွေနိုင်ရန် ကွင်းအနေအထားများကိုပြင်ဆင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ယခုနှစ်မှာ ကစားသမား ၁၂၈ ယောက်ဝင်ရောက်ပါဝင်ခဲ့ပြီး အကောင်းဆုံးစွမ်းရည်တွေကို ပြသကစားသွားကြတာကို မြင်တွေ့ရပါတယ်။ သို့သော်လည်း Ducati ဆိုင်ကယ်ကိုတော့ ပြိုင်ပွဲ ၂ ရက်လုံးမှာ တစ်ချက်တည်းကျင်းဝင်သူမရှိခဲ့တဲ့အတွက် မည်သူမှ မပိုင်ဆိုင်ခဲ့ နိုင်တာအတွက် ဝမ်းနည်းမိပါတယ်။ Ladies divisions မှာ division တခုစီကနေ အနိုင်ရရှိသူအသီးသီးပေါ်ထွက်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ စနေနေ့မှာပြုလုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ division B မှာ Mrs. Venter ကအနိုင်ရခဲ့ပြီး Division A မှာတော့ ၉ ကြိမ်တိတိချန်ပီယံဖြစ်ခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ မစုစုနှင့် ကစားသမားအသစ်ဖြစ်တဲ့ Mrs. Naidoo အကျိတ်အနယ်ယှဥ်ပြိုင်ခဲ့ကြပြီး ပထမရက်ကစားစဥ်ထဲက ၅ ချက်အသာစီးရရှိနေတဲ့ Mrs. Naidoo က ချန်ပီယံအသစ်ဖြစ်လို့လာခဲ့ပါတယ်။ Man Division မှာတော့ ဦးအားချန်မှ ပထမပွဲစဉ်မှာတင် ပါရလဒ် -1 ဖြင့် ခက်ခဲအောင်ဖန်တီးထားတဲ့ ကွင်းအခြေအနေမှာ အလွန်သာလွန်သော ရလဒ်ကိုရရှိခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒီရလဒ်ဟာ ဒုတိယနေ့တွင် 79 ရရှိခြင်းဖြင့် ၆ ကြိမ်မြောက် အောင်မြင်မှု ရရှိဖို့အတွက် ပံ့ပိုးမှုပေးခဲ့တာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ၂ ရက်မြောက်နေ့မှာ အမှတ်အများဆုံးရရှိခဲ့တဲ့သူကတော့ ၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ်က ချန်ပီယံဖြစ်ခဲ့ဖူးပြီး ချန်ပီယံ ၄ ကြိမ်ဆက်တိုက် ရရှိခဲ့တဲ့ ဦးဝင်းစိန် ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ပိုမိုခက်ခဲတဲ့ ဒုတိယမြောက်ရက်မှာ +2 ရရှိပြီး အနိုင်ရရှိခဲ့တဲ့အတွက် အင်မတန်တော်ပါတယ်။ အောက်မှာဖော်ပြထားတဲ့ အမှတ်အများဆုံးရရှိခဲ့သူ ၃၂ ယောက်ဟာဆိုရင် 2021 Matchplay championship အတွက်ထပ်မံယှဥ်ပြိုင်ရမှာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ၂၀၂၀ ခုနှစ်အတွက် အကောင်းဆုံး အမျိုးသား၊ အမျိုးသမီး ကစားသမားတွေကို ဖော်ပြပြီးတဲ့နောက်မှာတော့ နှစ်စဥ်ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်လေ့ရှိတဲ့ Caddie Tournament ကို ယခုလာမယ့် ဇန်နဝါရီလ ၁၁ ရက်နေ့၊ တနင်္လာနေ့မှာ ပြုလုပ်သွားမှာဖြစ်ကြောင်းအသိပေးပြောကြားလိုပါတယ်။ ကစားသမားများအနေနဲ့ မိမိရဲ့ ကယ်ရီများကို အားပေးဖို့ လာရောက်နိုင်ပါတယ်။
ဇန်နဝါရီလအကုန်လောက်မှာ The Golf shop က ပြောင်းရွှေ့ဖို့အဆင်သင့်ဖြစ်လို့နေပါပြီ။ Golf Academy ကတော့ ဖေဖော်ဝါရီလလောက်မှာ ပြီးစီးဖို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ ပန်းလှိုင်ဂေါက်ကွင်းနှင့် Phil Moore တို့ကတော့ နှစ်ဦး နှစ်ဖက်လုံးအတွက် အကောင်းဆုံးဖြစ်စေမယ့် ဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်ကိုချခဲ့ပြီး လမ်းခွဲခဲ့ပါတယ်။ လစ်လပ်သွားတဲ့ နေရာမှာ အမြန်ဆုံးအစားထိုးနိုင်ဖို့ ဆောင်ရွက်သွားမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ယခုအချိန်အတောအတွင်းအတွက် ဝယ်ယူထားတဲ့ သင်ခန်းစာ package များရှိခဲ့ပါက ကျွန်တော့်အနေနဲ့ အတတ်နိုင်ဆုံးသင်ကြားပြသမှုပြုလုပ်ပေးသွားပါ့မယ်။ နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ ပြောကြားလိုတာကတော့ ပန်းလှိုင်ဂေါက်ကွင်းကို နိုင်ငံတကာစံနှုန်းနဲ့အညီ ပြုပြင်ပြောင်းလဲမှုများပြုလုပ်လျက်ရှိရာ ကယ်ဒီကြေးများကိုလည်း ပြန်လည်ပြင်ဆင်မှုများပြုလုပ်သွားရန်ရှိပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် ၂၀၂၁ ခုနှစ်မှာ Step In Step Up အဖွဲ့အစည်း သာမက ကျွန်တော်ကိုယ်တိုင်ပါဝင်ပြီး ကယ်ဒီများကို ဂေါက်အားကစားနဲ့ပတ်သက်တဲ့ ဗဟုသုတတွေပိုမိုတိုးတက်လာစေရန်နှင့် ဝန်ဆောင်မှု(customer service) အပိုင်းအတွက်ပါ လေ့ကျင့်မှုတွေ ပြုလုပ်ပေးသွားမှာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
A Word on the Agronomy
As the course turf is now peaking in many areas where the combination of the natural rain and sun benefit the turf most, we will be executing some maintenance to the fairways towards the end of January to ensure their health and strength going in to the months ahead. With the fairways especially there is a real requirement to perform another verti-cutting which ‘thins’ out the turf. You may notice in certain areas the fairways may feel a little spongy, so this is why we will core with large tines and then verticut afterwards. We plan to continue our fertilizer programs with stock available to us in Myanmar. After recent soil and water tests we will, where possible, apply products that are suitable to ensure the ongoing health of both the soil and the turfgrass itself. Obtaining the required products for fine turf can be a challenge, however, we are optimistic that products shall be available throughout the coming year. As with all maintenance programs, the turf may not look so beautiful in the immediate aftermath but the long term benefits which follow these programs are essential. Some new additions to the maintenance fleet last month included a new greens coring machine and a new rough mower. More noticeable new additions are the new ‘Tee Yardage signs’ and ‘Tee markers’ located at each Tee box which were locally carved in Myanmar and made from high quality teak wood.
မြက်ခင်းပြင်ထိန်းသိမ်းပြုပြင်ရေးအပိုင်းနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ ပြောကြားခြင်း
သဘာဝနေရောင်ခြည်နဲ့မိုးရေတွေကြောင့် ဂေါက်ကွင်းရဲ့ နေရာတော်တော်များများက မြက်ခင်းပြင်တွေဟာ ရှည်လျားလျက်ရှိနေပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ဇန်နဝါရီလအကုန်လောက်မှာ ပိုမိုကောင်းမွန်တဲ့ မြက်ခင်းပြင်တွေဖြစ်ဖို့အတွက် fairways အပိုင်းကို ထိန်းသိမ်းပြုပြင်မှုတွေပြုလုပ်သွားနိုင်ဖို့ စီစဥ်လျက်ရှိပါတယ်။ Fairway ကိုလည်းအနည်းငယ်ပါးလွှာရိတ်သိမ်းဖို့လိုအပ်နေတာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အချို့နေရာတွေမှာဆိုရင် fairways တွေကအနည်းငယ်ပျော့အိနေတာကို သတိထားမိပါလိမ့်မယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်လည်း ပါးလွှာရိတ်သိမ်းခြင်းများကို အဓိကထားဆောင်ရွက်ဖို့စီစဥ်ထားပါတယ်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင်းမှာ ရရှိနေတဲ့ ပစ္စည်းတွေကို အသုံးပြုပြီးတော့ပဲ မြေဩဇာကျွေးတဲ့အစီအစဥ်ကို ဆက်လက် ပြုလုပ်သွားဖို့ ရှိပါတယ်။ မြေကြီးနှင့် ရေကို စစ်ဆေးမှုတွေပြုလုပ်ပြီးတဲ့နောက်မှာ သင့်တော်တဲ့ ပစ္စည်းများကို ရွေးချယ်ပြီး မြေကြီးနှင့် မြက်ခင်းပြင်တုတွေ ပိုမိုကောင်းမွန်လာရေးအတွက် လုပ်ဆောင်သွားဖို့ရှိပါတယ်။ အကောင်းစားမြက်တွေအတွက် လိုအပ်တဲ့ ပစ္စည်းကို ရရှိဖို့ဆိုတာ အင်မတန်မှ ခက်ခဲပါတယ်။ သို့သော်လည်း လာမယ့်နှစ်မှာ လိုအပ်တဲ့ ပစ္စည်းတွေကို ရရှိနိုင်မှာဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် ကံကောင်းတယ်လို့ ပြောလို့ရပါတယ်။ ပြုပြင်ထိန်းသိမ်းမှုတွေ ပြုလုပ်ပြီးပြီးချင်း မြက်ခင်းပြင်တွေက ချက်ချင်းလှပသွားမှာမဟုတ်ပေမဲ့လည်း ရေရှည်အတွက် အကျိုးရှိတာဖြစ်လို့ ဒီလိုမျိုးထိန်းသိမ်းပြုပြင်မှုတွေက လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။ အရင်လကထိန်းသိမ်းပြုပြင်မှုတွေပြုလုပ်တဲ့ အစီအစဥ်ထဲမှာ ဂရင်းများကို Coring Machine နှင့် rough mower အသစ် ဖြည့်သွင်းတာတွေပါဝင်ပါတယ်။ နောက်ထပ်အသစ်ထပ်တိုးပြင်ဆင်ထားမှုတွေကတော့ Tee box တခုချင်းစီမှာ အရည်အသွေးကောင်းတဲ့ကျွန်းသစ်ကို အသုံးပြုပြီး ပြုလုပ်ထားတဲ့ Tee Yardage signs များနှင့် Tee markers’ များပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

1. How long have you been a member of PHGC?
I have been a member at PHGC for 17 years.
2. Tell us, what inspired you to start playing Golf?
I like the greenery environment of golf course. The game of golf needs a lot of focus and attention unlike other sports. It needs a lot of practice as well, this is why I enjoy playing golf.
3. How often do you get to play?
I play it often because this is the sport I really enjoy.
4. Do you have a favourite club in your bag & why?
My favorite club is driver and putter. They both play an important role when playing golf.
5. Do you have a favourite caddie at PHGC?
I don’t have a favorite caddie. All of the caddies are good.
6. Which is your favourite hole & why?
My favorite hole is 17 because it’s a challenging hole for me and I can have a different experience there.
7. Have you had a hole in one before?
I’ve had a hole in one twice. Once is in Da Nyin Gone Golf Club and another one is at Mu-Se Golf Club. Hole In One requires a lot of luck.
8. If you could play any Golf course, where would it be?
I love to play at Pun Hlaing Golf Club and Da Nyin Gone Golf Club in Myanmar.
9. Who would be in your dream four ball?
If I have to play a four ball, I would like to play with my friend as we are very close to each other. We played together since we started playing golf.

အကြိုက်ဆုံးက driver and putter ပါ။ ၂ ခုလုံးက ကစားတဲ့နေရာမှာ အရေးပါတဲ့အတွက် သဘောကျပါတယ်။
၅. ပန်းလှိုင်ဂေါက်ကလပ်မှာ အကြိုက်ဆုံး ကယ်ဒီ ရှိလား?
အကြိုက်ဆုံးကယ်ဒီလို့တော့မရှိပါဘူး။ စီနီယာအလိုက်ပဲရိုက်ဖြစ်တယ်။ ကယ်ဒီတွေအားလုံးက အဆင်ပြေပါတယ်။
၆. အကြိုက်ဆုံးကျင်းပေါက်နံပတ်ရှိလား? ဘာကြောင့်လဲ?

2020 Matchplay Champion
Congratulations to our 2020 Matchplay Champion, U Win Sein.
On Sunday 22 November the final took place between the 4 time club champion U Win Sein & Mr. Cho Jung Won. It was Mr. Cho Jung Won who made the better start as he raced in to an early 2 up lead as U Win Sein seemed unsettled with many uncharacteristic errors in his opening holes but once he found his rhythm he managed to turn the match around and take the lead after 9 holes with a 1 up advantage. Then heading in to the back 9 U Win Sein delivered 3 birdies on 11, 13 & 16 which enabled him to cruise to a 4&2 victory and be crowned our 1st Matchplay Champion.

၂၀၂၀ ခုနှစ် Match Play ချန်ပီယံ ဦးဝင်းရှိန် အတွက် ဂုဏ်ယူဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်း။
နိုဝင်ဘာလ၂၂ရက် မှာ၄ကြိမ်မြောက် ချန်ပီယံ ကိုဝင်းရှိန် နဲ့ Mr . Cho Jung Won ဟာ Director of Golf & Professional Mr.Stephen Chick ရည်ညွှန်းပေးမှုကြောင့် နောက်ဆုံးပွဲစဉ်ကိုယှဉ်ပြိုင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။
Mr. Cho Jung Won ဟာအစောပိုင်း ၂နေရာအသာဖြင့် ပိုမိုကောင်းမွန်စွာစတင်နိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး ကိုဝင်းရှိန်ဟာ အဖွင့်ကျင်းပေါက်များတွင် အမှားများနှင့် အခြေအနေမတည်ငြိမ်ခဲ့သော်လည်း စည်းချက်ပြန်လည်ထိန်းညှိလိုက်နိုင်သည်နှင့် ပြိုင်ပွဲကိုပြောင်းလဲပစ်လိုက်နိုင်ပြီး ပြန်လည်ဦးဆောင်နိုင်ခဲ့ရာ ၉ကျင်း အပြီးတွင် ၁နေရာအသာပြန်လည်ဦးဆောင်နိုင်ခဲ့ပါသည်။ ထို့နောက် ၉ကျင်းအပြီးကို ထပ်မံဦးဆောင်နိုင်ခဲ့ပြီး birdies ၃ကြီမ်ကိုကျင်းပေါက်နံပတ် ၁၁ ၁၃ နှင့် ၁၆ တို့မှာရရှိခဲ့ပြီး 4&2 အောင်ပွဲရရှိခဲ့သောပထမဆုံး Matchplay ချန်ပီယံဖြစ်လာခဲ့ပါသည်
